LiMo Linux Mobile OS
The LiMo (Linux Mobile) Foundation is an alliance founded by Motorola, NEC, NTT DoCoMo, Panasonic Mobile
Communications, Samsung Electronics, and Vodafone in January 2007 to co-develop the LiMo Platform, a
Linux-based mobile platform operating system. 
On June 2008, the Linux Phone Standards Forum (LiPS) announced it was to merge with the Linux Mobile Foundation (LiMo).
The two groups were in many ways complementary: LiPS wanted to create a formal standard for mobile Linux, and LiMo
wanted to create a shared implementation of an open-source mobile platform. LiPS did release an initial set of
specifications in December 2007, but further work on such standardization is now effectively on hold.
